You thought I quit while I was ahead didn’t you? We capped off a wild spring of interviewing Lou Holtz, Brady Quinn, Tim Brown and other Irish greats with the most successful week, clicks-wise, in my site’s history (June 26-July 3). Yours truly and this site were mentioned BY NAME on ESPN.com, while Notre Dame powerhouses One Foot Down & Her Loyal Sons both linked up my little recruiting rant to some pretty nice fanfare. The Tony Rice/Everett Golson quote from our TNNDN interview has nearly 5,000 YouTube hits already! I even got my first haters! A little snippet from one such scribe:

I’ve been noticeably quiet since then in what was a pre-planned July break with family in town and two big weddings. It sure as hell was nice going into a brief offseason on that kind of high. As August and Fall Camp approach, I’m getting ready to hunker down and delve into my first Notre Dame Football season with an audience bigger than my parents. While this site has grown in ways I never imagined, I do have some

BREAKING NEWS: I was invited and accepted an offer to go write with the notorious Subway Domer at his extremely popular Bloguin locale. This move, for my Notre Dame content, is effective immediately.

Much like Tyler Durden, The Subway Domer is building an army. I’m not sure what my rank will be at the start, but hopefully I fare better as the young gun with dreams of power than Jared Leto and those bleached locks. As shown above, I’ve already been on the receiving end of a few low blows and I think I can take it. Let’s just hope SD doesn’t call me out in a dark Twitter basement because he has a lot more followers. I have no insider info, but I bet his followers fight dirty.

I’m really looking forward to working with one of the longest standing Notre Dame sites, while being on a team with the likes of BlogDavie & SteveinIowa - who have become recent Irish friends and whose writing I really respect. It’s an honor to join their ranks along with Subway Domer and the rest of his staff . I will get the opportunity to focus my writing in Year 2 with a bigger roster of established writers.

NOTES: I will NOT be shutting down the site in any way, shape, or form. I will be writing my Notre Dame content exclusively at SubwayDomer.com. I will keep my fans updated with posts and updates here, as well as continuing to post my podcasts and YouTube interviews for your pleasure. Should I find the time to come up with more Angels, Saturday Night Live, NFL, Entertainment or other articles they’ll be exclusively posted at HerringBoneSports.

There are a lot of people to thank as I come up on my one year anniversary of starting this adventure. I couldn’t have done it without my friends, family, and VERY supportive Lady Friend (Seriously, VERY SUPPORTIVE). Some have even taken the time to write on here and help grow the brand. I hope there is more of that down the line. Special shout-outs to my dad, Rob Abreu and Ben Stecker who have done some great work so far.

I also have to thank TNNDN, with whom so much more has become possible for a Notre Dame fan pursuing his dream. Jason, Tim, Oscar, Lynne, Tyler, Connor, Cathy, and everyone else have amazed. I hope it’s just the beginning of more great things. Actually, we KNOW it’s just the beginning.

A last, but necessary gratitude to my two favorite commentors – Nudeman and Don2u74. It’s one thing to have those close to me encourage my work despite no care for all things Notre Dame. It’s another when smart fans with quality opinions frequent posts with insight and commentary. Hopefully you fellas make your way over to the new stomping grounds, but if not – thanks for the memories and you know where to find me.
