This is officially my 3rd Notre Dame post of the night. Not even when I was blogging consistently about two topics (Saturday Night Live & Notre Dame) did I accomplish this feat. Between the writing and my Thursday radio show it’s been a festive day in the Man Cave. I consider myself fully prepped for the Purdue Boilermakers. I guess not being from Indiana I don’t get the aggressive bashing of Purdue and calling them “Purdon’t”. Seems like a nice fan-base with smart kids and a desire to be better at football in spite of a yearly difficult schedule and lack of national notoriety. I always kind of root for them after the early ND game. What have they ever done to bother me? Nothing really, but onto the links my friends:
As promised, my weekly Game Preview has arrived and I prominently reference my interviews from Down the Line with the South Bend Tribune’s Eric Hansen, maybe the most in-tune beat writer on Notre Dame Football, and Yahoo! Sports’s Brian Neubert who writes for the Purdue blog GoldandBlack.com. Eric Hansen has over 8,000 Twitter followers and sent out this little diddy after our interview:
Enjoyed talking #NotreDame football with Stephen Herring today on TNNDN podcast. It’s airing now and you can listen at: ow.ly/dwIZt

So it’s official. The only people who refer to me as “Stephen” are my father and Eric Hansen, Notre Dame Insider. Interesting stuff here people. The interview is honestly fantastic (starts about 15:00 into the above show) with some fresh takes on the stadium atmosphere, how the WR rotation is breaking down, who he thought was going to start at CB in 2012 before the Lo Wood injury, and Everett Golson notes from his practice observations. In summary of the Purdue blogger interview – Brian and the fan-base are still waiting to see what they have in 2012. Mark May predictably dubbed “Notre Dame on upset alert” because he’s part of the ESPN crew whose motto is “Say dumb shit and get paid more. The dumber the better.”
My new crew at SubwayDomer tossed out their 2012 ND/BCS/Heisman predictions with a foreword by yours truly that I’m proud of. Did you know Subway Domer was getting a credential this week?? Read more ….

Stephan aka Steve.
Great job with Eric Hansen. You did your homework, asked concise, non rambling questions, listened to his answers and kepth things on track. Very well done.
Well thank you sir. I took that interview VERY seriously and got every second out of the 15 minutes I was given. He’s obviously a pro and he complimented me after we stopped taping and that meant quite a bit. It’s nice, especially this early in the season, to hear what those privledged to practice are seeing.
Always appreciate the support Don.
and yes – Eric Hansen seemed to prefer to use my Biblical name over Steve and I’m fine with that.
